Versatile defender and former No. 1 pick has played in every match this season for the New England Revolution

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - University of Louisville men's soccer alumnus and New England Revolution defender Andrew Farrell was named Sunday to the 2016 Major League Soccer All-Star Game roster by MLS All-Star coach Dominic Kinnear. Farrell is one of 26 All-Stars that will play Premier League club and 2016-17 UEFA Champions League participant Arsenal on Wednesday, July 28 at 7:30 p.m., ET at Avaya Stadium in San Jose, Calif. The 2016 AT&T MLS All-Star Game will be broadcast nationally in English on ESPN and in Spanish on UniMás.

In his fourth season with New England, Farrell is one of three Revolution players to appear in every match this season. A versatile defensive stalwart who has spent time at both center back and right back in 2016, the 24-year-old Louisville native has made 20 appearances so far this season, starting 19 times. Farrell has twice been named to MLS Team of the Week bench, for his Week Four performance at New York City FC and his Week 15 performance at Vancouver Whitecaps FC.

Farrell was drafted by the Revolution as the club's first round (first overall) pick in the 2013 MLS SuperDraft becoming UofL's first No. 1 overall selection. Since being chosen in 2013, Farrell has appeared in 116 out of 122 League matches, including 115 starts. Farrell has also played in seven of the club's eight postseason matches since 2013, all starts.

The 2012 Big East Defensive Player of the Year and a First Team NSCAA All-American that same season, Farrell was a key component during Louisville's run of three straight NCAA Elite Eight appearances from 2010-12.
