December 13, 2017 | Women's Lacrosse

The Cardinals will have seven home games.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville women's lacrosse announced their 2018 schedule, which features match-ups against seven 2017 NCAA Tournament squads, all of which were ranked in the final IWLCA Top 20 Poll.

The challenging slate includes seven matches at UofL Lacrosse Stadium and nine road contests.

The Cardinals open their season on Feb. 9 with a trip to Cincinnati, Ohio, where they will take on the Bearcats. Just two days later, fans get their first look at the Cardinals as they play host to Marquette on Feb. 11 for their 2018 home opener.

After a week of preparation, the Cards return home on Feb. 17 for a match-up against Denver. Louisville then travels west on Feb. 21 to Boulder, Colo. for a midweek tilt with the Colorado Buffaloes, their first 2017 NCAA Tournament opponent.

In a quick turnaround, the Cards head home on Feb. 24 to square off against Coastal Carolina. Just three days later, Louisville takes to the road again for a meeting with the Vanderbilt Commodores on Feb. 27 in Nashville, Tenn.

Louisville kicks off a busy month on March 3 for their ACC Opener against 2017 NCAA Tournament team Notre Dame at UofL Lacrosse Stadium. The Cards then travel south for two road contests, first against the Duke Blue Devils on March 10 in Durham, N.C., followed by a nonconference match-up versus Mercer in Macon, Ga on March 14.

On March 17, the Cardinals host Boston College in a marquee ACC matchup. The contest is slated to be one of the toughest challenges of Louisville's season, as the Eagles were the 2017 NCAA Tournament Runner-ups and finished the year as the second-ranked team in final IWLCA poll.

On March 24, the Cardinals will break away from conference play once again, traveling to Pittsburgh, Pa. for a match-up against Robert Morris. Remaining up north, Louisville then heads to Providence, R.I. for a midweek showdown with Brown University on March 28.

The Cardinals return to their friendly confines on March 31, welcoming Virginia Tech for the first of four consecutive ACC contests.

Louisville then takes a week-long hiatus from competition before heading to North Carolina on April 7 for a challenging road test against the formidable Tar Heels. The Tar Heels finished 2017 as the No. 5 team in Division I and earned a trip to the 2017 NCAA Quarterfinals.

In their final home match-up of the regular season, the Cardinals host their third 2017 NCAA Qualifier in as many matches when they play Elite Eight Qualifier Virginia on April 14. Finally, Louisville caps off the regular season with a visit to Syracuse, N.Y. on April 22 for a match-up against their second consecutive Elite Eight opponent.

Postseason play begins on April 26 in Durham, N.C. at the ACC Tournament. The opening rounds of the NCAA Tournament are slated to begin on May 11-13 with the Final Four occurring on May 25-27 in Long Island, N.Y.
