Cardinals Qualify Five Events to Finals on Second Day of NCAA Championships

The 200 free relay and 400 medley relay will swim in the A final.

COLUMBUS, Ohio – Building on the success from last night's record-breaking performance, the University of Louisville women's swimming and diving team qualified five events to finals on the second day of the Women's NCAA Championships.
 
In the first event of the morning, the 200 free relay team of Lainey Visscher (22.13), Mallory Comerford (21.11), Avery Braunecker (21.93), and Casey Fanz (21.94) combined for a time of 1:27.11 to qualify fourth heading into tonight's A final.
 
Sophie Cattermole earned the first individual finals swim for the Cards, stopping the clock in a time of 4:38.08 in the 500 free to finish 12th overall and qualify for the B final. Mallory Comerford also competed in the event, touching the wall with a 4:41.24.
 
In the 200 IM, Rachael Bradford-Feldman qualified in a tie for 14th to earn the Cardinals another spot in the finals. Her time of 1:55.75 was the third fastest 200 IM in UofL history.
 
Three Cardinals competed in the 50 free, led by Lainey Visscher, who tied for 11th in a 22.06 to nab another spot in the finals for Louisville. Casey Fanz tied for 23rd overall with a time of 22.37, while Avery Braunecker finished 33rd with a 22.49.
 
Louisville's 400 medley relay squad of Alina Kendzior (52.33), Mariia Astashkina (58.94), Grace Oglesby (51.10), and Mallory Comerford (46.13) turned in second place finish in the final heat of the event to qualify the Cardinals into fourth for the evening's finals.
 
In the 1-meter dive, Molly Fears placed 37th with a score of 257.85. 

The Cards will return to the McCorckle Aquatic Pavilion tonight at 6 p.m. for finals in each of their respective qualifying events.
