Spirit Groups Win Four of Five Divisions at NCA/NDA Collegiate National Championships

Ladybirds double-title in Team and Hip Hop

After a weekend of competition at the NCA/NDA National College Championships, the University of Louisville claimed a title in the D1A All Girl division, the D1A Small Coed and the Ladybirds dance team double-titled with wins in both the team performance and hip hop divisions at the Ocean Center Bandshell in Daytona Beach, Fla.

All Girl
For the fourth year in a row, Louisville dominated the D1A All Girl division as the Cardinals won championships number six at the NCA Collegiate National Championship. Louisville ended the competition ranked No. 1 with 97.05 points, beating the second place team of University of South Carolina by 6.22 points.

Small Coed
University of Louisville battled back after placing third in prelims to win the in D1A Small Coed. The Cards were in third place behind Oklahoma State University with ACC foe North Carolina State ranked No. 1. The Wolf Pack moved to third place in Finals leaving the top spot open for U of L, who moved past OSU.

The Ladybirds defended their title in team performance and then double-titled as the Hip Hop Champions.

Large Coed
Since 2003, there have only been two champions in this division: University of Louisville and Oklahoma State University. The Cardinals dominated from 2003-2009, Oklahoma State University shook things up and took home the title in 2010.  Louisville earned the top spot back in 2011 and then again 2016 that they found themselves on top again. This year, the Cardinals finished third, with rival Oklahoma State taking second and Texas Tech taking the crown
