No. 16 Louisville Travels to Notre Dame

Cardinals to face the Irish on Sunday at Alumni Stadium

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- The No. 16 Louisville women's soccer will travel to Notre Dame on Sunday afternoon for a 1:00 p.m. kickoff.  The Cardinals are off to their best start in school history with an overall record of 11-1 and an ACC record of 4-1. The match will be televised on ACC Network Extra.  
       
Earlier this week the Cardinals upset No. 9 Clemson 1-0 in Lynn Stadium.  Senior Callie McKinney scored her first goal of the season off a header from Allison Whitfield's corner kick in the second minute, proving to be the game-winner. 
       
Ekic  leads the Cardinals on the season with seven goals and six assists for 20 points.  Snyder ranks second on the team with four goals and one assist for nine points.    Junior keeper Gabby Kouzelos leads the team in goal with a 0.54 goals against average.   She owns an 11-1 record along with six shutouts. 
       
Head coach Karen Ferguson-Dayes is in her 20th season with the Cardinals. She has led Louisville to five NCAA tournament appearances, including a Sweet 16 appearance in 2011.
 
SCOUTING NOTRE DAME
Notre Dame enters the match with an overall record of 9-4 and an ACC record of 3-2.  On Thursday night, the Irish won a third-straight home match with a 3-0 win over Miami, their eighth shutout of the season. The Irish are 6-1 at home this season and recorded shutouts in all six home wins.
       
Sammi Fisher leads the team in scoring with five goals and four assists for 14 points.  Fisher recorded a hat trick on Thursday night against Miami.  Luisa Delgado ranks second on the team in scoring with four goals and four assists for 12 points.   Brooke Littman and Mattie Interian lead the Irish between the posts.  Between the goalies, Notre Dame owns a 0.77 goals against average and a total of eight shutouts.   
       
Nate Norman is in his second season as the head coach of the Irish.  He owns a 17-14 record with the Irish.   
 
SERIES HISTORY
 Notre Dame leads the overall series 4-11 over the Cardinals.  Last season in Lynn Stadium the Cardinals 2-0.  The previous meeting in 2016 the Cardinals fell to the Irish 2-1 in overtime.  Louisville is 2-6 against the Irish in games played in South Bend.
