LOUISVILLE, Ky. – University of Louisville women's soccer opened the season with a 3-0 victory at Miami on Thursday night.

The win marks the Cardinals' fourth straight in the series over the Hurricanes. Miami, who opened the season on Saturday against Clemson, moves to 0-2 with the loss.

"It's always great to open the season with a win in this league," said head coach Karen Ferguson-Dayes. "We put together some good moments, but there are also plenty of areas that we need to improve on. Every day we will continue to work on getting better."

Junior Delaney Snyder got the Cardinals on the board just seven minutes into the game. Senior Emina Ekic sent the ball into the right side of the box and Snyder beat everyone to it and found the left side of the net to give Louisville a 1-0 lead.

Eight minutes later, Ekic got into the scoring column herself as she dribbled to the right side and delivered the ball to the nearly identical spot of the net that Snyder found for the first goal of the game.

Louisville made it 3-0 at the 19-minute mark when Snyder found Ekic in the box, who danced around defenders and then lined it past the goalie for her second goal of the game.

There was no scoring the rest of the way as the Cardinals took a 3-0 lead into the half and then cruised to the win.

Louisville finished the game with 12 shots to Miami's five. Just one of the Hurricanes' shots was on goal which resulted goalkeeper Gabby Kouzelos' lone save of the game.

Ekic finished the game with two goals and an assist, while Snyder added a goal and an assist.

The Cardinals return to action on Sunday afternoon at 1 p.m. ET when they play at Florida State.
