Seven With UofL Men’s Basketball Earn Degrees in 2019

Cardinals achieved a collective 3.265 grade point average in the 2018-19 academic year
LOUISVILLE, Ky. – While the 2018-19 University of Louisville men's basketball team participated in its 39th NCAA Tournament and won 20 games for the 17th straight season, the Cardinals also excelled in their academic pursuits.
The UofL men's basketball team achieved a collective 3.265 grade-point average in 2018-19, with 12 of 14 student-athletes earning a 3.0 or better GPA for the UofL 2019 Spring semester.
Seven Cardinals, including three who earned advanced degrees, graduated this academic year or will complete their degrees this summer. UofL men's basketball 2019 graduates include Akoy Agau (master's in business administration), Christen Cunningham (master of science in sport administration), Steven Enoch (bachelor of arts in communication), Khwan Fore (MS, sport administration), VJ King (BS, sport administration), Ryan McMahon (BS, marketing) and Dwayne Sutton (BS, sport administration).
"We're delighted that our team has continued to put in the work in their scholastic efforts, as well as on the court," said UofL Head Men's Basketball Coach Chris Mack. "We congratulate our graduates and are pleased that our team as a whole is achieving in the classroom and working toward the goal of earning their degrees."
The academic scores maintain a level of academic success that the Cardinals have accomplished for several years. The men's basketball team has attained a collective 3.0 GPA for 21 of the last 22 semesters, including a 3.176 cumulative team mark for the recently-completed Spring 2019 semester. Four Cardinals attained a 3.4 or better semester GPA.
Louisville has received an NCAA Public Recognition Award six of the last seven years for ranking among the top 10 percent in men's basketball in the Academic Progress Rate (APR), which measures academic eligibility, retention and graduation for student-athletes.
Louisville is one of just nine Division I schools in the nation, including only two from Power Five conferences (Louisville and Stanford), which have earned the APR recognition in at least six of the last seven years. Louisville is one of only nine Division I schools in the nation to have perfect men's basketball multi-year APR scores in at least four of the past six years.
Six Cardinals were named to the 2019 All-ACC Academic Team and UofL has produced an ACC-best 31 selections over its five years in the conference. Louisville matched a league-high five individuals on the 2018 ACC All-Academic Team, achieved a conference-best six in 2017 and an ACC-best seven on the team in 2015 and 2016. Prior to entering the ACC, UofL's men's basketball team earned four straight league Team Academic Excellence Awards, recognizing the highest collective grade-point averages in each of the conference sports (2014 American Athletic Conference, 2011-13 Big East).
