Cardinals Wrap Up Road Stint with a 2-1 Win Over Boston College

Two first half goals from Emina Ekic and Delaney Snyder sealed the win
BOSTON, Mass. – Behind a strong first half scoring effort, the 22nd ranked University of Louisville women's soccer team defeated Boston College 2-1 on Sunday afternoon. Louisville improves to 9-1 overall and 2-1 in ACC play. The Eagles fall to 8-2 overall and 1-2 in ACC play.
The Cardinals were able to take advantage of opportunities early in the match. In the 14th minute, Nadege L'Esperance sent a cross to Allison Whitfield who crossed it into the middle of the box to Emina Ekic. Ekic chipped the ball over the keepers head for the goal and a 1-0 Louisville lead.
The Cardinals struck again in the 32nd minute. Ekic sent a cross into the box to a streaking Delaney Snyder who sent the ball into lower left side for a 2-0 Cardinal lead.
Boston College finished the first half with a 13-4 advantage in shots and a 3-1 advantage in corner kicks. Gabby Kouzelos finished the first half with three saves while the Cardinals led 2-0 at the half.
The second half was pretty even on possession. The Cardinals had a few opportunities but were unable to find the net.
In the final 15 minutes the Eagles pressed forward looking to cut the Cardinals' lead. In the 88th minute, Boston College was awarded a penalty kick. Gaby Carreiro was able to convert the kick and cut the lead to 2-1. The Louisville defense was able to contain the Eagles' offense in the final minutes for the win.
Louisville will return home to host Wake Forest on Thursday, Oct. 3 at 7:00 p.m. in Dr. Mark and Cindy Lynn Stadium. The game will be televised on the ACC Network.
