COACHES' THOUGHTS
"Although the Charles does split up the team for a week, it is a valuable experience and a chance to select a boat to represent the university in a premier fall regatta. The remaining 60 or so team members are racing each other on the Ohio. This whole week is about selection and creating lineups, whether in Boston or in Louisville, that set us up for great fall race results. I am proud of the whole team and we are excited to see what our boat can do this weekend!"

ABOUT THE HEAD OF THE CHARLES REGATTA
Since its origin in 1965, the Head of the Charles Regatta has welcomed the world's best crew teams to the banks of the Charles River for the ultimate two-day rowing competition. This year's event includes 2,263 entries while more than 1,700 volunteers assist with the event.

COMPETING TEAMS
Louisville will race against 31 other teams in the Women's Club Eights. Of the 31 teams the Cardinals will compete against, 23 boats are other collegiate teams, with the lone ACC rival being North Carolina.

THE COURSE
The Head of the Charles is contested on a three-mile (4,800 meters) course along the Charles River, featuring seven bridges, multiple turns and passing in a head-race format. In head races, each crew starts single file about 10-15 seconds apart and the results are based on time.
