Cardinals Finish Fourth at Illini Women’s Invitational

Lauren Hartlage finished tied for third at 6-under-par 210

MEDINAH, Ill. - The University of Louisville women's golf team finished the Illini Women's Invitational tied for fourth place with a 54-hole score of 2-under-par 862. The Cardinals shot a combined team score of 292 on the final day of the tournament.
 
Hosted by Illinois as the Medinah Country Club - Course No. 2, the par-72 course was played at 6,159 yards. Kent State captured the team title by one shot over Ole Miss, with a two-day score of 853. Kennedy Swann of Ole Miss earned the individual medalist honors with a 54-hole score of 9-under-par 207.
 
The team's 54-hole score of 826 ranks seventh all-time in program history. Louisville led the tournament in par-5 scoring with a 4.77 average, finishing at 14-under-par for the week. The team was second in the field with 46 total birdies.
 
The Cards finished tied with Maryland, two strokes back of third place Illinois. UofL defeated five schools who received votes in the most recent coaches' poll, including Oklahoma who finished ahead of the Cardinals less than a week ago at the Schooner Invitational. The team also finished 35 strokes better than ACC rival Notre Dame.
 
Leading Louisville for the tournament was Lauren Hartlage who tied for third overall. She carded a 1-under-par 71 on the final day to finish at 6-under-par 210 for the tournament. Hartlage carded three birdies in the round, all of which came on the front nine.
 
Tying for 13th place was Mairead Martin with a 2-under-par 214. Martin shot a final-round 74 that included a pair of birdies on Nos. 5 and 18. Hana Ryskova also carded a 74 on the final day to finish in a tie for 28th place with a 54-hole score of 219.
 
Delaney Shah led the Cardinals with four birdies on the final day to shoot a 1-over-par 73. For the tournament, Shah tied for 34th place with a 220. Agustina Gomez Cisterna wrapped up her first collegiate tournament with a 77, as she finished in a tie for 47th place with a two-day score of 223.
 
Louisville wraps up the fall season when it hosts the 16th annual Cardinal Cup October 18-20 at the UofL Golf Club in Simpsonville. Tournament play begins at 9:00 a.m. each day.
