The Young Lionesses will play in Group B

LOUISVILLE, Ky. -- Louisville's Mollie Rouse was named to the England Women's Under-20 World Cup team.  The young Lionesses will play in Group B alongside Brazil, Mexico and North Korea for the tournament which takes place in the Brittany region of France August 5-24.

A fixture with England's U-17, U-19 and now U-20 National Teams, Rouse competed with the England U-20 national team in the 2017 Women's Nike International Friendlies held in December.  She was one of seven of England's 20-player squad helped John Griffiths' U17 side reach the quarterfinals of the 2016 World Cup.

In her freshman season with the Cardinals, Rouse saw action in 15 matches and started in 10 for the Cardinals.  She had a strong freshman season despite arriving late due to her national team obligations.  Rouse was a big contributor to the Louisville midfield, finishing her rookie season with two goals and one assist.  She dished out the game-winning assist in the Cards' 2-1 win over Clemson.

England qualified for the tournament for a fifth time by beating Scotland in a play-off last August. A match in which Rouse helped lead the Lionesses to victory.

The team will travel to France on Thursday to fine-tune their preparations before opening up against North Korea on Sunday August 5 followed by Brazil on Wednesday 8 August 8 and Mexico four days later.
