No. 4 Louisville Travels to Play Pitt on Thursday

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – No. 4 University of Louisville women's basketball hits the road to play at Pitt on Thursday night. The game will tip off at 6 p.m. ET and broadcast on ACC Network Extra and 790-AM WKRD.

Louisville is 23-3 on the season and 14-2 in Atlantic Coast Conference play.
 
At 14-2 in league play, UofL has secured a top 4 seed in the ACC Tourney. With one win in their final two games, Louisville will lock up the 2-seed. With two wins and a NC State loss at Virginia Tech on Sunday, UofL would share the ACC regular season title with the Wolfpack and would be the 2-seed.
 
With the 70-56 win over No. 23 Virginia Tech on Senior Day, Louisville finished the regular season a perfect 14-0 at home, which marks the first time they have finished the regular season undefeated at the KFC Yum! Center.
 
Two other times, Louisville finished undefeated at home. In 1996-97, they were 11-0 at home and 20-9 overall and in 2000-01 they finished 13-0 at home and 19-10 overall.
 
Dating back to last season, UofL has won 16 straight at home. The longest home winning streak in program history is 17 games when they won their final five home games in 2016-17 and their first 12 in 2017-18. Louisville is 74-4 at home the past five seasons.
 
Emily Engstler recorded her eighth double-double of the season with 19 points and a season-high 15 rebounds vs. Virginia Tech. It marks the first time a Louisville player has had 15 rebounds since Olivia Cochran had 15 in the second round of the NCAA Tournament last season. Her eight double-doubles are the most by a UofL player since Kylee Shook had 11 during the 2019-20 campaign.
 
She averages 11.2 points with a team-high 8.9 rebounds, 2.5 steals and 1.8 blocks per game, while shooting 46.9 percent overall and 26-of-61 (.426) from deep. She leads the ACC with 2.5 steals per game, ranks third with 6.5 defensive rebounds per game and 8.9 rebounds per game and ranks fifth with 1.8 blocks per game. She has led UofL in rebounds in 23 of 26 games.
 
Over the past five seasons, the Cardinals are 80-12 (.870) in ACC regular season and tournament games combined. UofL is 72-9 (.889) in ACC regular season games. They are 38-4 (.905) in home games and 34-5 (.872) in road games.

ABOUT THE PANTHERS
 
Pitt enters Thursday's matchup with an 11-16 overall record, 2-14 in ACC play. They have lost their last seven games and are 1-9 in their last 10. Their two conference victories are a 65-57 win over Wake Forest and a 78-73 win at Clemson. Pitt leads the ACC and ranks 11th in the NCAA with 43.6 rebounds per game. Their 15.5 offensive rebounds per game also lead the ACC, while ranking 14th in the country. They lead the league with 515 free throw attempts and rank third with 330 makes, but rank 14th with a 64.1 free throw percentage. Dayshanette Harris is the Panthers' lone double digit scorer with 10.0 points per game. Amber Brown is second on the team in scoring with 9.2 points per game and she has gotten to the free throw line 127 times, which ranks second in the ACC. Rita Igbokwe ranks third in the ACC with 2.2 blocks and seventh with 7.3 rebounds per game.
 
Series History - Louisville is 22-2 all-time against Pitt. The Cardinals are 9-2 at Pitt and 14-0 since both programs joined the ACC. Louisville has won 18 straight in the series by an average of 22.7 points per game. Louisville's last loss was a 72-69 road defeat on Feb. 14, 2010. The first meeting between the two teams was Feb. 8, 2006 at Pitt, a 71-63 UofL win.
 
Last Meeting (Jan. 6, 2022) - Emily Engstler had 12 points and 10 rebounds, Hailey Van Lith also had 12 points and No. 2 Louisville forced a season-high 35 turnovers in an 81-39 rout of Pittsburgh. Louisville forced 24 mistakes in the first half alone for 18 points en route to a 40-13 cushion. Louisville also held Pitt to season lows in shooting (26%) and points. Engstler shot 5 of 11 from the field and also made a career-best seven steals.
