No. 4 Louisville Hosts Eastern Kentucky on Thursday Night

The Cardinals and Colonels will tip off at 8 p.m. ET on ACCN and 790-AM WKRD.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. – No. 4 University of Louisville women's basketball welcomes Eastern Kentucky to the KFC Yum! Center on Thursday night. The game will tip off at 8 p.m. ET and broadcast on the ACC Network and 790-AM WKRD.

Tickets for Thursday's game are available and fans can enjoy $4 draft beer and $3 sodas. In addition, fans can cheer on UofL volleyball in the Final Four against Wisconsin as the match will broadcast on the big screen in the KFC Yum! Center. Fans can also bring new, unwrapped toys for the Western Kentucky Drive, which will be donated to families in Western Kentucky.
 
The Cardinals (8-1) enter Thursday's contest on an eight-game winning streak, which includes two wins over Top 25 opponents, a 70-48 victory over No. 12/9 Michigan and a 64-58 win over No. 14/14 Kentucky.
 
During that winning streak, Louisville has a plus-24.3 scoring margin. On the season, the Cardinals' scoring margin is plus-21.3, which ranks fourth in the ACC and 17th in the country.
 
Louisville's defense limited Kentucky to a season-low 58 points on Sunday, which marked the fifth time in nine games that they have held their opponent to a season-low. The Cardinals limited Bellarmine to a program-record tying 25 points, which is 29 points lower than their second-lowest point total this season. They also limited UT Martin to a season-low 30 points, Cal Poly to season-low 32 and Michigan to a season-low 48.
 
In the third quarter of Louisville's win over Kentucky, the Cardinals limited the Wildcats to a season-low six points on 1-13 shooting. Entering the game, UK's fewest points in a quarter was 12 in the second quarter against LaSalle. It marked the third time this season that UofL has limited an opponent to one field goal in a quarter as they limited Bellarmine to one field goal in the third (1-10) and fourth quarter (1-13).
 
In addition, in the win over Kentucky, the Louisville defense limited consensus All-American Rhyne Howard to a season-low nine points. It marked her fewest points since she had eight points at Tennessee on Jan. 24, 2021. In the win over Michigan, UofL limited consensus All-American Naz Hillmon to a season-low 12 points.
 
Angel McCoughtry, the only Louisville women's basketball player to have her jersey retired, will be in attendance as analyst for the broadcast on ACC Network.

ABOUT THE COLONELS
 
Eastern Kentucky is 3-5 on the season and plays back-to-back road contests on Wednesday and Thursday, at Morehead State and at Louisville. The Colonels are under the guidance of first year head coach Greg Todd, who spent the previous seven seasons as the head coach at Morehead State. EKU finished 9-15 last year and returns four starters. Jayla Johnson returns after averaging a team-high 13.5 points per game a season ago and being named second team all-OVC and to the all-newcomer team. She leads the Colonels this season with 15.4 points and ranks third on the team with 6.0 rebounds. Alice Recanati averages 8.5 points and a team-high 4.1 assists per game, while Ariel Kirkwood chips in 8.5 points and a team-high 7.4 rebounds per game.
 
Series History - Louisville holds a 20-8 all-time advantage against EKU and is 12-2 at home. Last season marked their first matchup since the Cardinals won 76-42 at the KFC Yum! Center on Nov. 28, 2012. This is the third ever matchup at the KFC Yum! Center.
 
Last Meeting (Nov. 29, 2020) - Hailey Van Lith scored 20 points and grabbed 11 rebounds to lead No. 5 Louisville to a 101-58 victory in its home opener over Eastern Kentucky. The Cardinals used a 16-2 run to start the second quarter to take a 35-14 lead with 5:17 left in the half and put the game away. They would lead by as much as 40-16 in the half. Van Lith made 7-of-13 shots, including five 3-pointers.
