Louisville women's basketball head coach Jeff Walz has been named one of 10 semifinalists for Werner Ladder Naismith Women’s Coach of the Year.

ATLANTA – The Atlanta Tipoff Club has announced that University of Louisville women's basketball head coach Jeff Walz has been named one of 10 semifinalists for Werner Ladder Naismith Women's Coach of the Year.

It marks the fifth straight season that Walz has been named a Naismith Coach of the Year semifinalist.

Despite losing Dana Evans, the 2-time WBCA All-American and ACC Player of the Year, from last year's team, Walz has led the Cardinals to a 25-4 overall record, 16-2 in ACC play. Louisville is ranked No. 5 in the Associated Press poll.

The Cardinals are giving up just 55.0 points per game, which ranks 17th in the NCAA and is on pace to be the fewest points allowed per game in program history. The program record is 56.4 points per game allowed in 2019-20.

At 25-4, UofL has recorded 20 or more wins in 12 straight seasons to extend the program record. Over the past five seasons, Walz has led the Cardinals to a 147-19 (.886) record and the 147 wins rank third in the country behind only UConn and Baylor for the most victories during that span.
