LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Atlantic Coast Conference announced today that University of Louisville lacrosse senior midfielder Caroline Blalock was named to the All-ACC Second Team, while freshman midfielder Bella Karstien has earned ACC All-Freshman Team honors.

It marks the second time that Blalock has earned All-ACC honors as she was also named to the All-ACC Second Team following her freshman season.

Earlier this year, the four-year captain was named to the Tewaaraton Award Watch List, an ILWomen Midseason Second Team All-American and she received votes for the ILWomen Midseason Breakthrough Player of the Year.

Blalock leads the Cards in assists (10), ground balls (32) and draw controls (37), and is second in goals (28) and points (38). She ranks fourth in the ACC with 32 ground balls and 2.1 ground balls per game.

Last week, she became the 10th player in Louisville program history to accumulate 100 goals. She ranks third all-time in UofL program history with 77 caused turnovers, fourth with 127 ground balls, fifth with 37 assists, sixth with 103 draw controls and 10th with 104 goals.

Karstien has played in 14 games with eight starts, recording 10 goals and three assists for 13 points. She is 3-4 on free position shots, while adding six ground balls and five draw controls.

She twice has scored two goals in a game this season. She had two goals on three shots, while adding an assist against Cincinnati and then had two goals on two shots at Boston College.

Louisville opens the 2021 ACC Tournament in Chapel Hill, N.C., against No. 1 North Carolina on Wednesday at 12 p.m. ET. The game will broadcast live on ACC Network.
