Hailey Van Lith tallied 17 points and a career-high 6 assists to lead No. 2 Louisville women’s basketball to a 72-60 bounce back win over Wake Forest on Sunday afternoon at the KFC Yum! Center.

LOUISVILLE, Ky. - Hailey Van Lith tallied 17 points and a career-high six assists to lead No. 2 Louisville women's basketball to a 72-60 bounce back win over Wake Forest on Sunday afternoon at the KFC Yum! Center.

With the victory, the Cards moved to 16-2 on the season and 6-1 in Atlantic Coast Conference play. The Demon Deacons dropped their fifth straight game, moving to 12-8 on the year with a 2-7 record in ACC play.
 
Louisville trailed 22-21 after the first quarter and 26-25 with 7:34 to go in the first half. The Cardinals then closed the half on a 19-0 run and went into the break with a 44-26 lead.
 
The Cards shot 67 percent from the field in the half, including 10-13 from beyond the arc.
 
Coming out of the locker room, the Cards kept their foot on the gas pedal and scored the first 13 points to extend the scoring run to 32-0 and build a 57-26 lead. Louisville forced four Wake Forest turnovers before a timeout was called with 5:48 remaining in the quarter. Two free throws from Elise Williams at the 5:03 mark snapped a scoring drought for the Deacons that stretched nearly 13 minutes.
 
Louisville led by as many as 33 in the game and cruised to a 72-60 win.
 
"We got a little bit more focused defensively," said Louisville head coach Jeff Walz on the run. "Mykasa (Robinson) came into the game and she changes our defensive mindset. She's as tough of a kid as I've ever coached, and she just makes things happen."
 
Wake Forest finished the game shooting just under 30 percent from the field, missing 21 straight shots over the second and third quarters, but free throws allowed them to close the final gap to 12 as they shot 19-27 from the stripe for the game.
 
On the offensive end, Louisville tallied 19 assists on 26 made field goals, with Mykasa Robinson coming off the bench to record a season-high seven assists.
 
Emily Engstler added 15 points and a team-high eight rebounds, while Liz Dixon came off the bench and didn't miss a shot, pouring in 12 points for the game, 10 of which came in the first half.
 
Jewel Spear led Wake Forest with a game-high 22 points and Williams finished with 14.
 
The Cardinals return to the KFC Yum! Center for the second game of a three-game homestand on Thursday night at 8 p.m. ET against Florida State.
