Etienne Donnet fell in three sets to Michigan’s No. 20-ranked Andrew Fenty in the first round of the NCAA singles championship

The University of Louisville's Etienne Donnet lost to Michigan's Andrew Fenty in three sets in the first round of the NCAA Singles Championship Monday afternoon at the USTA National Campus in Orlando, Florida.
 
Donnet, who stands at No. 45 in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association singles rankings, gained momentum early with a 7-5 win in the first set against the No. 20-ranked Fenty. The players were tied at 4-4 in the second set when the outdoor match was halted due to lightning and rain in the area. After more than an hour delay, the contest moved indoors and Fenty went on to prevail 7-5 to force a decisive third set which he also won 6-1.
 
The Louisville senior and two-time All-ACC selection from Lyon, France ends his season with a 26-9 overall singles record after going 19-5 in dual matches playing mostly at No. 2.
 
The Cardinals will open play in doubles on Tuesday when Natan Rodrigues and Fabien Salle will compete in the when they take the court against Tennessee's No. 4-ranked Pat Harper and Johannus Monday.
